Brno Airport concluded another strong season, during which it handled more than
662,000 passengers from January to September. This corresponds to a
consistently high level of utilization and confirms the long-term interest in
air travel from the Moravian capital. This year also brought several new
features: passengers could for the first time take advantage of regular routes
to Rome and Malaga, and the summer offer reached its widest range ever with
36 destinations.
"We are pleased that people choose Brno as a place from where they fly for holidays and business trips. The stable numbers at the end of the peak season show that the region is interested in air connections and that passengers return to us repeatedly. The fact that we now offer more than thirty destinations, including long-haul flights, is the result of the long-term efforts of the entire airport team and cooperation with carriers, the city and the South Moravian Region. We are pleased that together we can look for more interesting destinations that will make sense for passengers and carriers.
Chairman of the Board of Directors of LETIŠTĚ BRNO a.s.
As usual, the regular route to London (Stansted) was the most popular this year. It has long been one of the pillars of Brno's operations, and by the end of September, 64,477 thousand passengers had used it. It flies five times a week in the summer schedule and up to six times a week in the winter. Holiday destinations such as Antalya in Turkey, Marsa Alam and Hurghada in Egypt, and Burgas in Bulgaria were also very popular, while Tirana, Madeira, and Kavala were particularly successful among the less traditional destinations.
New this season, regular flights to Rome and Malaga, which were launched in the spring, have already attracted more than 26,000 passengers and shown that there is room for further development of air connections from Brno. Flights to Rome are operated by Aeroitalia, while the route to the Andalusian capital is operated by Ryanair, which already operates two other regular routes from the airport – to London Stansted and Bergamo in Italy. New destinations – Barcelona and Chania – have been added to the charter flight offering. Chania became the second airport in Crete after Heraklion to which passengers from Brno could travel directly this year.
As in previous years, July was the busiest month, followed by August. In both months, the airport handled more than 155,000 passengers, confirming that demand traditionally peaks during the main holiday season.
The 2025 summer season was the airport's richest ever in terms of destinations, with passengers able to choose from 36. Year-round services to London and Malaga will remain in operation during the winter, while long-haul flights to Phuket, Thailand, will return from 27 October, served once a week by a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner with a capacity of 359 passengers. Flights to Egyptian resorts will run until the end of November and will resume from February after a winter break. Services to Rome and Bergamo are also expected to return in the spring, with the start of the summer schedule (from 31 March).
According to the feedback, people at Brno Airport particularly appreciate the easy accessibility, fast and clear check-in and time savings compared to travelling to large hub airports. Together with the range of destinations, these are the main reasons why passengers choose to fly from Brno.
Brno Airport does not only provide passenger transport. In addition to the eleven carriers currently operating on scheduled and charter passenger routes, cooperation with DHL and FedEx on scheduled cargo routes is ongoing. In addition, a number of general aviation and business aviation operators use the airport.
In recent years, the airport has invested tens of millions of crowns in expanding parking capacity and upgrading infrastructure. In the future, the airport plans to further develop its apron and operational areas as well as continuously renew its technical equipment.
"We want to keep up with the needs of air traffic and at the same time offer passengers an environment where they will feel comfortable. Stable numbers allow us to plan our investments with greater certainty and we believe that thanks to cooperation with carriers and travel agencies we will be able to further expand our offer," adds Jiří Filip, member of the Board of Directors of LETIŠTĚ BRNO a.s.
