Brno Airport has handled over 662,000 passengers since the beginning of the year, offering the widest range of destinations in its history
Press release
Brno, 24 October 2025
Brno Airport has concluded another strong season, handling more than 662,000 passengers from January to September. This reflects consistently strong usage and confirms long-term interest in air travel from the Moravian capital. This year also brought several new developments: for the first time, passengers could use regular flights to Rome and Málaga, and the summer schedule featured a record 36 destinations.
“We are delighted that people are choosing Brno as their departure point for holidays and business trips. The stable figures at the end of the main season show that the region values air connections and that passengers are returning to us. The fact that we now offer more than thirty destinations, including long-haul flights, is the result of the long-term efforts of the entire airport team and cooperation with carriers, the city, and the South Moravian Region. We are pleased that together we can seek other destinations that will be viable for both passengers and airlines,” says Milan Kratina, Chairman of the Board of Directors of LETIŠTĚ BRNO a.s.
As usual, the regular route to London (Stansted) was the most popular this year. It has long been one of the pillars of Brno’s operations, and by the end of September 64,477 passengers had flown the route. It operates five times a week in the summer schedule and up to six times a week in winter. Holiday destinations such as Antalya in Turkey, Marsa Alam and Hurghada in Egypt, and Burgas in Bulgaria were also very popular, while Tirana, Madeira, and Kavala stood out among the less traditional choices.
New this season, regular flights to Rome and Málaga, launched in the spring, have already attracted more than 26,000 passengers and demonstrated potential for further development of air services from Brno. Flights to Rome are operated by Aeroitalia, while the route to the Andalusian city of Málaga is operated by Ryanair, which already flies two other regular routes from the airport – to London Stansted and Bergamo in Italy. The charter program also added new destinations – Barcelona and Chania. Chania became the second Cretan airport after Heraklion to offer direct flights from Brno this year.
As in previous years, July was the busiest month, closely followed by August. In each of these months, the airport handled more than 155,000 passengers, confirming that demand traditionally peaks during the main holiday season.
Record-breaking summer schedule and winter plans
The 2025 summer season was the most extensive in the airport’s history in terms of destinations, with 36 to choose from. Over the winter, year-round flights to London and Málaga will remain in service, and from 27 October long-haul flights to Phuket, Thailand, will resume – operated once a week by a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner with 359 seats. Flights to Egyptian resorts will continue until the end of November and will resume in February after a winter pause. In the spring, with the start of the summer schedule (from 31 March), flights to Rome and Bergamo are also expected to resume.
According to passenger feedback, Brno Airport is particularly appreciated for its easy accessibility, quick, straightforward check-in, and time savings compared with traveling to large hub airports. Together with the breadth of destinations, these are the main reasons travelers choose to fly from Brno.
Investment and future development
Brno Airport is not only about passenger traffic. In addition to the eleven carriers currently operating scheduled and charter passenger flights, the airport also handles regular cargo services with DHL and FedEx. It further serves a range of general and business aviation operators.
In recent years, the airport has invested tens of millions of crowns in expanding parking capacity and modernizing infrastructure. Looking ahead, it plans to further develop ground-handling and operations areas and to continuously renew equipment and technology.
“We want to keep pace with the needs of air traffic while offering passengers an environment where they feel comfortable. Stable figures allow us to plan investments with greater certainty, and we believe that thanks to cooperation with carriers and travel agencies we will be able to expand our offer even further,” adds Jiří Filip, a member of the Board of Directors of LETIŠTĚ BRNO a.s.
