Traveling with children

Effective 26 June 2012, a child cannot travel outside the Czech Republic only on the basis of the child's name being entered in the parent's ID card or passport.

Citizens of the Czech Republic (including those travelling with children) are only allowed to travel abroad under the following conditions.

The child must have their own travel document, specifically:

  • his or her own identity card, which can be issued upon request; this also applies to citizens under 15 years of age - for travels within the EU only; or
  • his or her own valid passport; or
  • another type of travel document compliant with Act No. 329/1999 Coll. on Travel Documents, as amended
